Child Support
If you and your former partner no longer live together, one partner will likely have physical custody of the child while the other parent will have visitation rights. Often, in this case, the non-custodial parent is required to pay child support to ensure that the child’s food, shelter, health, and clothing needs are met.
Paternity
Paternity cases arise when a mother and father, who were never legally married to each other, seek to determine who the legal father of a child is. Establishing paternity will determine child support, custody (parental responsibility) and visitation (time-sharing) with the parents and the child.
